On Site Testing

Alcohol breath testing is a quick and non-invasive process

Alcohol breath testing is a quick and non-invasive process to ensure your staff are not working while under the influence of alcohol. The team from QTTS can conduct testing for you on site, using breathalysers that comply with the Australian national standards.

With over 38 years combined experience, we have conducted drug and alcohol tests for small and large businesses across Mackay, Central Highlands, Rockhampton, Whitsundays and the Bowen, Surat and Galilee Basin regions.

All testing is done efficiently and professionally to ensure the privacy of your staff. An alcohol breath test is conducted through measuring how much alcohol is in the air that you breathe out. This is known as your blood alcohol content (BrAC).

In Australia, the BrAC of under 0.05% is the legal limit for driving

In Australia, the BrAC of under 0.05% is the legal limit for driving. However, your BrAC reading should always be 0% at work, and especially if you are driving heavy vehicles or machinery.

Ensure the safety of your employees and organise an on site alcohol breath test today. We can also provide urine and saliva tests, as well as training courses for first aid and drug and alcohol tests.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What affects my blood alcohol content?

Your BAC can be affected by your gender and weight. Lack of experience with alcohol, and drinking on an empty stomach can also cause you to get drunk a lot quicker.

  • What is the legal blood alcohol content?

The legal BAC in Australia for driving on the road is 0.05%. This does not apply to operating machinery whilst at work. You should always maintain a 0% BAC level while working.

  • How much can I drink an hour?

To remain under the legal BAC limit, the general rule is no more than 2 standard drinks an hour for men, and no more than 1 standard drink an hour for women. Alcohol affects everyone differently, so it’s possible for you to blow above 0.05% even if you don’t feel intoxicated.

  • How long does alcohol stay on your breath?

Alcohol can stay in your breath for up to 24 hours, depending on the number of drinks you’ve had. On average, a glass of wine can take around 3 hours to metabolise, so it’s possible for you to have a high BAC level the morning after drinking.
